MATERIAL: |
Dispersion of polyethylene oxide into water for base polymer production of hydrogel for transdermal drug delivery.
PROBLEM:
Batch mixing equipment leaves "fish-eyes" of 1/8" or larger which must be separated from the gel formulations. Slow speed agitator mixers require 8-10 hours of combining this polymer with water at 10% by weight.
RESULT:
Continuous dispersion of this granular polymer into water requires only one hour for complete hydration. Equipment replaced antiquated "waterfall" device for slowly sprinkling polymer during filling of final mixing vessel. |
AB MIXER:
Model D-6000 Dispershear
BENEFITS |
Hydrogel quality at optimal level requiring no loss of dry polymer during mixing. No over shearing of polymer or aeration. |
