HOT MELT ADHESIVE

Description
OBJECT: Hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive. Provide uniform mixture. Resin 60% wgt., oil 10% wgt., and Kraton Rubber 30% wgt.
PROBLEM: Obtain uniform mixture of oil, resin and rubber.
SOLUTIONS: Melted resin until homogenous (starts 250 deg – completed at 300 deg.). Placed mixer in melted resin until mixer heated to resin temperature. Started mixer in down mode – added oil into vortex and premix 2 min. Added Kraton rubber (looks like popcorn) which melted rapidly. Then ran mixer in up-mode 10 mins.
