ACID CHEMICAL REACTION
Description
MATERIAL:
Salt-like acid crystal (0.5% minus 10 mesh, 8.5% 10-100 mesh, 15% minus 100 mesh) reacted with caustic soda and elastomers. Product is 1,000 cps and 15% by weight solids.
PROBLEM:
Disperse and prevent re-agglomerated of acid crystals during chemical reaction.
RESULT:
Prevented reagglomeration. Kept acid crystals dispersed. Recirculated at 50-60 gpm.
AB MIXER:
Model 3 x 1.5, toothed impeller/liner, 7.5 HP, 3600 RPM, 1/16″ grid. Recirculating to a 2,000 gallon reactor. Centrifugal pump on discharge side of Dicon.
BENEFITS: Reaction yield increased because reagglomeration eliminated.
